MAKING THE SEAL

The purpose of making a seal with drains is to prevent the infiltration of pollutants into the ground and into the water table. It also makes it possible to avoid the infiltration of water that is the source of washing the filler, which could cause the ground around the drain to subside.

The EN 1433 standard requires it to be possible to create this seal, and Nicoll drainage channels were developed with this requirement in mind, not only between each drain but also between the drainage channels and the drainage network.

Drain joint seals (all drains, except CAB773).

Obtaining a seal with KENADRAIN and CONNECTO drainage channels is facilitated by the male-female socket joint and by the locking of the latter.

The product retained to obtain the seal is compressed between the male and female portion of the drainage channels, in such a way that there can be no movement.

So the seal is obtained by compression, not by gluing.

The product to use is polyurethane mastic (high modulus all-purpose adhesive, Sikaflex 11 FC type).

Special case with CAB773

To form a seal in the joints and at the bottom of the CAB773 drainage channels, polyurethane mastic can be used, or, for more safety, it can be glued with a special PVC glue.

Water tightness of the silt trap

The silt trap is made from PVC-based products. The seal between the silt trap fitting vertical/lateral outlet and silt trap existing network can be formed with a seal if the joints have them, or by gluing (refer to gluing the CAB773).

Sealing the vertical/lateral outlets and end/cap outlets with the existing network.

The vertical/lateral outlets and end/cap outlets are made from injected PVC. Sealing their connection to the network can be done either with a seal, or by gluing (refer to gluing the CAB773).
